Environmental Inspector

Aha Fast Track Base Install

The Environmental Inspector is the duly-appointed Town official primarily charged with the duty of enforcing the Town's environmental laws, including Chapter 165 (Erosion and Sediment Control), and Chapter 140 (Conservation Areas) of the Code of the Town of Yorktown.

In addition, the Environmental Inspector has enforcement powers and responsibilities with respect to Chapter 245 (Solid Waste), Chapter 248 (Stormwater Management), Chapter 250 (Streets and Sidewalks) and Chapter 280 (Water).

The Environmental Inspector proactively endeavors to anticipate and forestall violations of the Town's environmental laws. When violations do occur, the Environmental Inspector takes steps to halt further violations and to cause the correction of those violations that have occurred. These steps may include warnings, stop work orders, remedy orders (written direction to correct any harm caused by a violation), filing of charges and issuance of summonses for code violations, or, with the assistance of the Town Attorney and Town Prosecutor, commencement of other court actions to enforce the Town Code.
