Yorktown Grange Fair

“Hometown Pride Shared Countywide”

The theme of this year's Yorktown Grange Fair, “Hometown Pride Shared Countywide” continues the 88 year tradition of Westchester's only true agricultural country fair.  Always a showcase for homegrown and homemade goods, the Grange Fair features competitions and exhibits dedicated to produce, flowers, baking, needlework, photography, livestock and poultry.

Fair Hours:
Thursday, 9/6, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Friday, 9/7, from 10:00am to 11:00pm
Saturday, 9/8, from 10:00am to 11:00pm
Sunday, 9/9, from 10:00am to 9:00pm

Admission:
Adults - $9
Children under 12 - $4
Special admission for Thursday evening - $2
Free parking

Following are some of the signature special events and demonstrations of this year’s fair:

  • Tractor parade from the YCCC building to the Grange fairgrounds (Saturday at noon)
  • Barrel racing demonstration featuring horses and riders from Cimarron Ranch (Saturday and Sunday at 1:00pm)
  • Oxen driving demonstration by Rock Hill Farm (Saturday at 3:00pm)
  • Wool spinning demonstrations by the Hanover Spinners/Knit-In group (Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm)
  • Parade of animals (Sunday at 2:30pm)
  • Produce Auction: baskets of award winning produce are auctioned for charity (Sunday at 7:00pm)

Showmanship competition and judging times are scheduled as follows:

  • Sheep (Saturday at 2:30pm)
  • Horses (Saturday at 4:00pm)
  • Cows (Sunday at 11:30am)
  • Goats (Sunday at 1:00pm)

This year, the emphasis on local talent will extend to musical performers as well, with popular regional favorites joined by emerging local musicians:

Mojo Monde – Thursday, 9/6 at 6:30pm
A Hudson Valley R&B/Rock band who live up to their slogan: “The Groove Makes you Move.” Mojo Monde features some of the area’s most respected musicians including Grammy-nominated keyboardist/vocalist Jon Cobert who has performed with John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews.

Chain of Fools – Friday, 9/7 at 8:00pm
A rare performance by the seven-piece Motown covers band that features Larry Eidelman, aka Yorktown’s Public Safety Officer, on keyboards and vocals. Chain of Fools plays all the best Motown, R&B, and Funk from the 60’s through the 80’s. Come ready to dance!

Annie &The Natural Wonder Band – Saturday, 9/8 at 12:30pm
Annie and her husband, Safari Bob, perform fun-filled interactive songs about the wonders of nature, and are a beloved favorite of Yorktown families with young children. The Grange Fair is delighted to welcome them back again this year.

Yorktown Teen Center’s First Friday Performers – Saturday, 9/8 at 4:00pm
Featuring the following local teen musical phenoms currently making a name for themselves in the area:

  • Zerena Lupo, a country singer-songwriter who has performed at the Hard Rock Café in Boston, The Bitter end in NYC, and multiple venues in Nashville.
  • Guitarist Marc McIntyre, a YHS senior who has won two Battle of the Bands competitions and has performed at both The Paramount and 12 Grapes in Peekskill.
  • Singer Amber Lewis, who has performed with Sloan Wainwright, won 2nd place in the Hudson Valley Young Artist Talent Search, and has performed at The Towne Crier and 12 Grapes. She will be accompanied by her sister Aiyana on piano.

The Sundown Band – Saturday, 9/8 at 8:00pm
New York’s premier southern rock band, The Sundown Band, return to headline the Grange Fair this year. Featuring a dual guitar attack and performing classics by LynyrdSkynyrd, The Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, and Molly Hatchet, The Sundown Band brings the true heart of southern rock n’ roll to Yorktown.

Unfunded Mandate – Sunday, 9/9 at 1:30pm
Comprised entirely of Lakeland School District staff including Dr. George Stone, the Lakeland Superintendent of Schools, Unfunded Mandate plays classic rock covers and recent performances at The Winery, and at Yorktown Community Day in FDR Park have generated local acclaim. Sponsored by the Lakeland Education Foundation, all proceeds from their shows are donated to fund student scholarships and special school projects. “It’s the love of music and giving back to our community that makes this so much fun,” Dr. Stone stated. “As a fund raising band you know we do it because we love the music.”


Additional entertainment includes Westchester-based magician, The Great Charlini who will perform multiple, child-friendly magic/variety shows throughout the weekend, and the Chris Clark Bicycle Stunt Show who will also perform multiple shows each day of the Fair.

Highlights of the fair also include our wonderful livestock exhibition, audience participation games such as pie eating, watermelon eating and nail driving, carnival rides and more. As always you'll enjoy the flower and produce tents featuring home-grown produce and lovely bouquets; and photo, baking, needlework and lego contests in the Grange building. Our fair midway will once again feature exciting rides and attractions, and the best fair food around.
