The Receiver of Taxes collects all taxes levied by the town, including special district taxes such as fire, lighting, parks, sewer and water. She also collects the county and judicial district taxes and school taxes for that part of the four school districts which fall within the Town borders.
ANNUAL TAX COLLECTION SCHEDULE
County and Town Tax for the calendar year January 1 through December 31 are sent out on April 1st, and must be paid by April 30th, in full, as levied, to avoid penalty.
School Tax for a fiscal year July 1 through June 30 is levied as of September 1st. The first half, due September 1st, must be paid by September 30th to avoid penalty. The second half, due January 1st, may be paid at any time after September 1st (provided the first half has been paid) through January 31st, without penalty. Please note, no reminder notice is sent for the second half of School Tax. Both payment stubs are sent in the first envelope.
