"Spring Fever" Exhibit Opening Reception Saturday, May 5th at Noon

The Hudson River Valley towns were playing baseball as early as the 1850's and playing host to professional baseball as early as 1886 when the existing Hudson River League became affiliated with the minor leagues. At the opening reception on May 5th at noon, the Museum's guest curator, Bob Mayer, well known collector of vintage baseball items, will introduce you to the many items from his vast collection that are now on display in the Museum's showcases.

Come and see items related to baseball players who contributed to the popularity of our National Pastime. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax are just a few of the men represented. Among the many uniforms is one from the Mollys, a womens team from the WW2 era and one from the House of David team, who's team was known as the Bearded Boys.

One of the oldest items on display is an enlarged photo of the earliest known picture of an African American in his uniform. As you can see there is something for everyone in tis exciting exhibit.

This exhibit will be on display through October.
