All of the grass turf areas managed by the Yorktown Parks Department are organically treated in a 5 step process. All applications are 100% organic and do NOT contain any pesticides and herbicides.

Downing Park

Located on Route 202 (Crompond Road), Downing Park is in the center of Yorktown. The park offers bocce courts, exercise area, ball fields, tennis courts, two playgrounds, a pavilion with cooking grills, and rest rooms. In the Spring, the park is home to Yorktown's Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Park hours are 1/2 hour before dawn until 1/2 hour after dusk.

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park's spacious picnic areas accommodate hundreds of people who visit the park daily. People of all ages also enjoy the park's oasis of blue water amid the green of the countryside. Swimming is provided in a mammoth pool that will accommodate several thousand people at one time. Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond provide excellent fishing and boating. For boating enthusiast, rowboat rentals are available in season and privately owned boats may be launched with a permit which maybe purchased at the park office, (914) 245-4434.

Garden of Hope at Willow Park

The Yorktown Garden of Hope is a community-driven organic garden providing fresh vegetables to regional Northern Westchester County, NY food banks, as well as organic gardening training. The garden is located in Willow Park, at the corner of Curry Street and Tulip Drive.

Granite Knolls Sports & Recreation Complex

Constructed on 15 acres of the 125 acre Granite Knolls Park (West) the Granite Knolls Sports Complex has two full-size multi-purpose fields, a baseball field with press box and bleachers, a snack bar, restrooms, picnic area, basketball courts, pickleball courts, a pavilion, and parking facilities. The park is connected to Sylvan Glen Park Preserve by a trailway. On Saturday, June 18, 2022, the Town will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting for an Inclusive Playground that will allow children of all abilities the chance to play together.

Granite Knolls Park East

The site of small scale quarry operations, Granite Knolls Park boasts an almost house size Giant Boulder which was pushed to its current place by receding ice. It sits among pieces of rock split from its side. Along the ridge of the knoll are additional large rocks, not yet quarried. Other evidence of quarry operations are scattered through out the park included quarry pits, cables, and an old gear. The park is also former farmland.

A visitor to Granite Knolls will quickly notice there are two types of trails: woods roads and narrow windy trails.

Kitchawan Preserve

Until 1989, this area between Route 134 and the Croton Reservoir was part of the Kitchawan Research Station of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and has since been acquired as Westchester County parkland. Over six miles of trails offer unparalleled views of the reservoir and surrounding hills and link to the North County Trailway. The Teatown-Kitchawan Trail, known as the TKT, is a new 6.5-mile hiking trail that links several parks and trails: Westchester County’s North County Trailway, Kitchawan Preserve and John E.

Mohansic Trailway

The Mohansic Trailway follows an abandoned (1917) rail bed that went from the Putnam Division Railroad to what is now the Mohansic Golf Course. It begins at Rt 118 and Downing Drive, crosses Baldwin Road (0.4 mile), and continues through FDR State Park to Mohansic Avenue East (1 mile). It is suitable for walking and mountain bikes. The boardwalk (west end) and gravel (east end) are handicapped accessible. The middle section bridges are accessible but the path has a steep part (20 feet) and can be muddy in the spring and after it rains.

North County Trailway

The North County Trailway is a paved pedestrian/bicycle path located primarily on right-of-way lands of the former Putnam Division of the New York Central Railroad. The Trailway covers 22.1 miles from Eastview in the Town of Mount Pleasant north to Baldwin Place in the Town of Somers on the Putnam County border.

Patriot Skate Park

The Patriot Skate Park is located behind the Town Hall Commuter Lot on Underhill Avenue in Yorktown Heights. This facility is not supervised. For additional information, please click on the link.

Railroad Park

Railroad Park is the location of the Yorktown Train Station on the Putnam Railroad. The Town now owns the station and the property surrounding it. In the warmer months, the park is a great place to enjoy lunch, read a book, or take a break from traveling the North County Trailway. The Park has sitting benches, picnic tables, a playground, and a basketball court.

Sylvan Glen Park Preserve

Sylvan Glen is a nature preserve of 342.80 acres, owned by the Town of Yorktown. It is a heavily wooded park with wetlands that include Westchester's largest aquifer. The remains of the Mohegan Quarries give a look back into the history of the granite construction business of a century ago.

Teatown Lake Reservation

Teatown Lake Reservation is a private, nonprofit nature preserve of 730 acres and education center with over 14 miles of hiking trails. The Nature Center is open Sunday - Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. Admission and parking are free. Fees are charged for programs and pre-registration is required. Trails are open from dawn to dusk, 365 days. The Links at Valley Field Par 3 Golf Course

The Links at Valley Field is a town-owned par 3 golf course operated by Yorktown Golf Group, Inc. The 9-hole course is an Arnold Palmer-designed signature par 3 golf course that caters to both novice and experienced golfers seeking a challenging yet enjoyable round. The Par 3 course provides an excellent platform for practicing short game skills, precision shots, and refining your overall golfing game.

Turkey Mountain Nature Preserve

Turkey Mountain was preserved through the efforts of concerned citizens who recognized its value, and its preservation and maintenance are a continuing concern of the Yorktown Land Trust. The 125 acre preserve, owned by the Town of Yorktown, offers summit views at 831 feet to the Croton Reservoir and dam; the Hudson River; the New York City skyline to the south; Bear Mountain, across the Hudson; the Hudson Highlands; and on a clear day, the ridge of the Shawangunks.

Woodlands Legacy Fields Park

For years the undeveloped open space known as Woodlands was used by nearby residents comfortable in walking along unmarked trails. Owned by the Town of Yorktown in Westchester County, NY, the park is located on the east side of the Taconic Parkway and connects two pieces of Strang Boulevard. Hunter Brook, a trout stream which crosses the park was likely the reason that houses were not built and the land became parkland.
