Coronavirus Update for Nov 20th

From the desk of Supervisor Matt Slater:

Today's data shows active cases have continued to climb to 168 active cases. Yorktown remains in a state of emergency but New York State has not yet designated a cluster zone for our community.

We heard earlier today from Dr. Robert Amler, Dean of New York Medical College's School of Health Sciences and Practice. Dr. Amler made a specific reference to strong scientific evidence that the spread is occurring in people's homes more than any other way.

Earlier this evening the Lakeland Central School District announced Lakeland High School will be fully remote beginning Monday, November 23rd through December 4th. According to LCSD, this shift is a direct result of the increase in community spread, frequency of new positives and other variables.

To prevent additional COVID related closures, whether of our schools or New York State, residents are urged to take extra precautions this weekend.

We're all in this together so let's remember to be good neighbors. Be patient with one another, be compassionate toward one another and remember we are stronger together!
