UPDATE FROM YORKTOWN SUPERVISOR TOM DIANA

Hello everyone,

As promised, I would give updates as warranted. I can only share your frustration with the garbage pick up situation since the repossession of five of Competitive Carting’s garbage trucks. Today things got even more challenging, even though I called in extra trucks from two other firms for two days to assist. This morning, due to a dispute between labor and management of Competitive Carting, many of the men walked off the job not completing  all of the routes.

For the greater part of Friday the Town Board and myself have worked diligently to get enough outside equipment to get the job done.
Saturday there will be eight trucks on the road, most of which will be staffed by the men who generally pick up your garbage and recycle. Our goal is to complete the garbage routes left unfinished. I want to assure all the residents of the town that we are making every effort to ensure that our residents are taken care of and are given the service that all of you deserve and expect.

Thank you all so much for your patience during this unprecedented interruption of service.

Town Supervisor
