Winter Storm Orlena Update 2/1/21 9:50PM

From the desk of Supervisor Matt Slater: Winter Storm Orlena Update 2/1/21 9:50PM

Since our last update at 4:30PM we've had an estimated four more inches of snow and more is expected before it finally ends.

New York State and Westchester County have both declared a State of Emergency.  Yorktown's Snow Emergency, prohibiting on street parking and limiting travel to only essential, also remains in effect.

MetroNorth service has been suspended and no announcement has been made at this time as to when it will resume.  Both Bee-Line Bus and Paratransit services will not be operating tomorrow morning.

AAA Carting will be announcing early tomorrow morning if they are able to pickup garbage and recycling.  This decision is predicated on the conditions of the roads.  As a reminder, Monday pickups are now Tuesday.  Tuesday pickups are scheduled for Wednesday.  Once a decision is made we will share accordingly.

Lakeland, Ossining and Yorktown schools have made announcements for tomorrow.

Currently, Town offices will have a delayed opening of 10AM.

Our labor force will continue to work through the night in an effort to restore our roads and the Yorktown Police Department remains ready to respond in case of an emergency.
