Unsolicited Mailings and Flyers Regarding Water Service Line Insurance: Not endorsed by the Yorktown Water District

The Yorktown Water District has received questions and concerns regarding mailings & flyers from American Water Resources Homeowner Waterline Protection. This includes door to door flyer distribution.

These are unsolicited marketing items bearing the homeowner's name & address.

The company is attempting to sell insurance to homeowners to cover repairs to their water service line. The YWD owns and maintains the water line from the water main, up to and including the shutoff in the yard. The homeowner is responsible for the water line from the shutoff into the home.

Water service line leaks are rare. 

The YWD neither endorses nor opposes water service line insurance plans.
