Yorktown Pool Now Open

Yorktown Pool Now Open

07/30/20 - The Brian J. Slavin Aquatic Facility is now open for socially distant swimming.

The pool at 3800 Sunnyside Street in Shrub Oak opened on July 22 and it will be open until August 23 Wednesday through Sunday. For the safety of swimmers and their families, operating days will be split into two sessions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“Our recreation department developed a sound plan for reopening the pool that is in line with State and County health standards,,” said Supervisor Matt Slater. “The Town Board is confident the plan in place balances our residents’ need for family activities while at the same time protecting public health.  However, it is important to remind residents that despite the summer weather it ultimately falls to individuals to make intelligent decisions for themselves, their families and their neighbors.”

Admission fees to the pool are $5 for adults; $3 for children 17 and under; and $2 for seniors 62 to 69. Seniors 70 and up are admitted free.

In order to facilitate social distancing, the pool staff has drawn 75 social distancing squares and single-occupant X’s. The reservation for one of the squares or X’s will be $5 per session, in addition to the admission fee.

The pool is open to residents only and no out-of-town guests are allowed. Old pool passes will not be accepted as proof of residency. Adults must show a current government-issued photo identification card that indicates the bearer’s name and Yorktown address.
