Yorktown Records First Day of No New COVID-19 Cases

Yorktown recorded no new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, a first since the pandemic hit the community.

According to statistics released by Westchester County and posted on Yorktown’s COVID-19 Community Impact Dashboard, there were no new cases and 19 active cases.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for our community,” said Supervisor Matt Slater. “By working together and respecting common-sense health rules we have brought the new cases number to zero. This statistic is great news and we should celebrate this milestone responsibly. The pandemic is still not over.”

Since the pandemic arrived in Yorktown, there have been 4,467 confirmed cases among residents.

Social distancing rules are still in effect in Yorktown’s public facilities. Visitors to all town facilities must submit to a temperature screening and they are required to answer a COVID-19 questionnaire. Town officials’ safety precautions include the installation of plastic barriers at counters.

At Yorktown’s pools, the pool staff has painted social distancing areas on the pool grounds to remind families and groups to keep apart. Once all areas have been filled during a session, groups arriving must wait outside the facility until another group leaves and an area becomes available.
