Hazardous household waste should NEVER be mixed with garbage!

Common automotive fluids and household chemicals; including pool chemicals, are never to be disposed of in the trash or put down the drain. CHEMICALS & TRASH DO NOT MIX! When tossed into the garbage, chemicals may injure sanitation workers, react on the truck or pollute the air when incinerated.

An environmentally sound disposal option is to bring the items to Westchester County's "Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site" in Valhalla. Residents will not be charged for disposal, however, you must make an appointment by calling (914) 813-5425.
