Watershed Forestry Plans for Turkey Mountain and Sylvan Glen-Granite Knolls Parks

In 2011 and 2012 the Town of Yorktown applied for funding to create Forest Management Plans for Town-owned Turkey Mountain and Sylvan Glen-Granite Knolls Parks. After receiving grants from the Watershed Agricultural Council, Ted Kozlowski, a certified Watershed Forester, prepared the plans, which are posted here. Funding for these grants was provided by the City of New York. The plans are in-depth assessments of the parks’ forested and riparian habitats. Suggestions for long-term management of these Town parks are included in the plans. The overall goal is to maintain forest health and water quality while improving the quality of these outstanding recreational assets for Yorktown’s residents and visitors.
