Veteran's Advisory Committee

Councilman Ed Lachterman, Town Board Liaison

The Town Board created a Veteran's Advisory Committee for the purpose of: (1) advising the Town Board on how best to support the veterans community in the Town; (2) raise awareness of and coordinate support for military veterans; (3) enhance services to local veterans and their families; (4) coordinate support of active military personnel and their families.  The Committee shall consist of at least five (5) volunteer members appointed by the Town Board. The Committee shall select its own Chairperson. 

The Committee shall submit a report, on or before the 31st day of January, setting forth for the prior calendar year: (1) the dates the Committee met, (2) all votes taken by the Committee, (3) all memoranda prepared by the Committee and submitted to the Town Board, (4) all activities undertaken by the Committee, and (5) all minutes of the Committee’s meetings.

The Committee currently meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7 PM at the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center located at 1974 Commerce Street, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.

FAVOR - Veterans Discount Card
FAVOR - "Find and Assist Veterans of Record" - is a program where local businesses offer discounts to those who have proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Under the FAVOR program, veterans will be issued a picture I.D. card certifying their eligibility. Covers entrance to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service sites, and covers Standard Amenity Fees at Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation sites, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites. Admits the pass owners and any accompanying passengers in a private non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas, or the pass owner and up to additional 3 adults (16 and over) at sites that charge per person.
