Melissa Gonzalez Plays on the US Womens Field Hockey Team

Melissa, who is originally from Mohegan Lake and now lives in California, started playing field hockey when she was a student at the Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown.  A 2007 Lakeland High School graduate, Melissa is now playing on the US Womens Field Hockey Team at the London Olympics.

Melissa attended the University of Connecticut where she established herself as one of the top offensive players in the BIG EAST. She completed her career at UConn with 27 goals and four assists for 68 points. She was selected as a First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association in 2010 and 2009 and earned Third Team honors in 2008. She has been competing with the National team since 2009.

Unfortunately the Women's Field Hockey team did not advance to the next round of Olympic Competition.  We hope Melissa still had a good experience playing in the Olympic Games and we wish her all the best as she begins a 6-year graduate program at the School of Pharmacy at University of Connectcut this Fall.
