Public Advisement of Coyote in the Area

Public Advisement

At this time the town of Yorktown Police Department in conjunction with the Animal Warden, has received a report of a coyote observed in your area at about 3:30 pm on 9/23/13.  It was observed by a resident in the Springhurst Court Area.

Unfortunately this is something that has become more common due to the animals becoming acclimated to people, we all share the same concern that we have numerous children in our area, and out of an abundance of caution, we want to make sure that the public is aware of what is going on around them.  If you observe an animal you believe to be sick, please keep a safe distance, and contact the Yorktown Police Department @ 914-962-4141.

Please note that coyotes, foxes, and various other wildlife are numerous in our area, and unless one is sick or injured no action will be taken.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE WEBSITES BELOW FOR HELPFUL TIPS TO PREVENT NEGATIVE COYOTE INTERACTIONS
