Coronavirus Update from Supervisor Slater

From the desk of Supervisor Matt Slater:

The latest numbers from the Department of Health show 33 active cases in Yorktown. That is a net increase of +1 since our last report on Friday, however, it also shows 9 new cases since that time.

As a reminder, active cases are defined as confirmed test results wtihin a 14 day period. The case load naturally declines as cases are removed from the active list after that time.

Yesterday I joined municipal leaders on our weekly conference call with County Executive George Latimer and our partners on the county level. Regionally we are still seeing an upswing of cases. Tragically, there were six deaths this past week in Westchester County which equals the same number of COVID deaths for the entire month of August.

The County Executive informed us that hospitalizations are around 50 but were at roughly 30 two weeks ago. Westchester County now has over 1,000 active cases which equals the active case load on June 6th.

We all know the fatigue is real but so are the numbers. Stay focused. Wear a mask. Be smart.
