Yorktown Launches New Community Calendar

August 10, 2020 - The town’s website Yorktownny.org has launched an upgraded community events calendar that allows the public to post events.

“Yorktown’s wealth of community events for children and adults is one of the big reasons so many people choose to raise their families here,” said Supervisor Matt Slater. “With an abundance of events in town, it’s difficult to keep track, so the new community calendar is meant to be a one-stop database for the public. The upgraded calendar is also a great opportunity for local groups to ensure that details about their events are seen by everyone who visits the Yorktown community events calendar.”

Posting a community event is easy. Simply visit the town’s calendar page and click on the Submit a Community Event link at the top left of the calendar page. The submission page then requires descriptive information about the event, including date, time and location, among other details. The public may also submit images for their events in PGN, GIF, JPG and JPEG formats.

Events submitted to the community calendar must be relevant to Yorktown. When an event is submitted the town’s webmaster reviews the submission for appropriateness before it is published.

The upgraded community calendar is part of the recent update of the town’s website, which was last updated in 2013. In February the Town Board voted to spend $5,000 on the update, the same cost as in 2013.
