Yorktown Police Department presents its first National Night Out

YPD National Night Out

The Yorktown Police Department will host its first National Night Out Tuesday, August 3rd at Granite Knolls Park.

The free National Night Out event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and it is designed to strengthen relations between the public and the Yorktown Police Department.

“Bring good weather, a smile and we’ll take care of the rest,” said police Chief Robert Noble. “There’s nothing I enjoy more than providing opportunities for the public to meet and chat with the outstanding men and women who protect and serve the Town of Yorktown.”

Individuals from the Yorktown Police Benevolent Association will grill hamburgers and hot dogs donated by BJ’s Wholesale Club and the Yorktown Lions. Starbucks, the corporate sponsor of National Night Out, will provide the caffeinated drinks. Mr. Softee will bring all his delicious treats.

“The Yorktown Police Department has proven its willingness and desire to engage members of our community every single day. We’re excited to present an event that supports the community and allows for people to get to know the those who protect and serve the Town of Yorktown,” said Supervisor Matt Slater.

The night will be filled with music by DJ Travis. The Yorktown Police Benevolent Association will supply an inflatable bouncy house, and there will be a kickball game organized for kids. The Yorktown Elks Lodge #2324 will provide bottled water.

The Yorktown Police Department’s supporters include the Yorktown Lions, Alliance For Safe Kids, MADD, United For The Troops and Hope Not Handcuffs.
