Yorktown Vaccine Pop-up Site Delivers Almost 3,000 Shots

Local pharmacies have administered 2,948 vaccines to residents at a pop-up site hosted by the Town of Yorktown.

Last month, town officials began allowing local pharmacies to use the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center as a vaccination site where pharmacy staff can inject more people in a socially distanced manner. Next week, pop-up events will distribute 100 doses on Monday at 3 p.m. and 500 doses on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents interested in receiving a vaccine should sign up on the town’s online stand-by list. Residents without access to computers may call the supervisor’s office 914-962-5722, x200.

As of today, the pop-up site has fully vaccinated about 1,670 residents.

“We are thrilled that our community has embraced the pop-up site, which is in a convenient location easily accessible to the disabled,” said Supervisor Matt Slater. “It’s a local government’s responsibility to proactively find solutions for residents who struggled to find vaccines. We will continue to offer this life-saving service until everyone in our community who wants a vaccine receives one.”

The local participating pharmacies include Acme, Save Mor Drugs and Taconic Pharmacy. Westchester County has also run pop-up vaccination sites in Yorktown.
