Arbor Day Poster Contest

We are once again conducting our very popular poster contest, which is the highlight of our Arbor Day ceremony. Poster Contest Winners will be announced at the Arbor Day Ceremony at Town Hall on April 26, 2024 at 4:00 PM. Finalists will be notified in the week prior to the ceremony.

Arbor Day is celebrated in towns and cities across the United States, inspiring people to plant and nurture trees, which enhance and beautify their communities. Eligibility: The poster design contest is open to all 4th and 5th grade students in the Town of Yorktown.

Theme: The poster design should highlight this year’s theme: “Fruits & Nuts”Arbor Day 2024 is all about ensuring our earth and the trees upon it are happy, healthy, and growing to be as strong as they possibly can be!

Design Guidelines:

  1. All entries must be vertical (not horizontal) because winners will be made into the banners to the right.
  2. Make your poster colorful!
  3. White poster board size 22” x 28” is best.
  4. No poetry or prose entries.
  5. We cannot accept entries with TV/movie trademarked characters due to copyright issues.
  6. All entries must clearly indicate the full name, school, and grade of student(s) on the back of the poster.

Entry Deadline: Submissions are due April 19, 2024.

Submission: Submit poster entries to the Yorktown Planning Department located in the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center at 1974 Commerce Street, Room 222.

Winners: Three winners will be chosen for each grade. Submissions can be from an individual or a team, but all entries will be judged as individual submissions. Winning posters will be made into banners and hung from streetlights in Yorktown Heights next April!

Posters not chosen as winners can be picked up at the Planning Department on weekdays in June. Winners can be picked up weekdays beginning on July 8.
