New ‘Appetizing Arts’ Promotion Is a Win-Win-Win for Yorktown

The Yorktown Small Business Association (YSBA) is launching a new program that supports the Town of Yorktown’s restaurants, artists and community service organizations.

YSBA will partner with the Yorktown Arts & Culture Committee to pair artists with dining establishments that will display their work for purchase. A portion of the art sales at each location will benefit select Yorktown not-for-profit organizations.

Entitled “Appetizing Arts,” the three-way economic revitalization effort is designed to 1) help restaurants attract more customers; 2) help artists sell their original creations; 3) help non-profit civic groups raise needed funds. “It’s a win-win-win for all concerned,” said YSBA’s Bob Giordano.

“This promotion aligns perfectly with our stated mission,” said YACC Co-Chair Bruce Apar. “Our five-person committee of volunteers was created jointly by the Town of Yorktown and Chamber of Commerce to support and promote local artists, increase arts awareness in the community; and find common ground among the business, arts and non-profit communities to enhance our quality of life.”

Rounding out the Arts + Culture Committee is Co-Chair August Abatecola of Yorktown Stage, Gennifer Birnbach, Allyson Montana, and Karen Trendell.

The public is invited to join elected officials at the Appetizing Arts opening exhibition, for a meet-and-greet with the artist, Dianne Aronian, at Primal Bowls in Underhill Plaza (1877 Commerce Street), Yorktown Heights, on Wednesday Jan. 19, from 4-6 p.m.
