March 29, 2022 – Common Grounds café and lounge celebrated its grand opening on March 26 with a visit by Town officials.

The new café at 3677 Hill Boulevard in Jefferson Valley sells drip and espresso-based coffees, which are roasted in house. The baked goods are made at the café by Cristie Angel of the Good Things Take Time Baking Co. Prepared foods include bagels, sandwiches, salads, and omelets.

“Common Grounds offers Yorktown’s residents a coffee experience with prepared foods that are different from those at national chains,” said Supervisor Tom Diana, who helped cut a ribbon at the café. “The owner Lucas Sanchez’s goal is to create an enjoyable gathering space that will eventually host live music.”

Angel’s pastries are familiar to coffee lovers in northern Westchester County. In 2019 she became the head baker at Kurzhals Coffee in Peekskill, where she created vegan and gluten-free pastries. Common Grounds is owned by her youngest brother.

Common Grounds’ kitchen is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The café hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm.
