Community Cafe Ride

Community Café ride on the North County Trail from Yorktown to Carmel and from Mahopac to Yorktown and Carmel

Community Cafe rides are easy rides on the North Country Trail, designed to introduce people both to the Trail and to cafe's and ice cream stores along the way. These are mellow rides-ideal for new riders and for thoe who aren't in much of a hurry to get there. We'll have some time to chat at the cafes. The total distance is 26 mikes, but riders can turn back at any point.

These are two rides on one day, one ride starting in Yorktown and heading north on the North County Trail to Carmel, and one starting in Mahopac and heading south to Yorktown. Both start at 10 am and both will visit the Trailside Cafe in Yorktown and Millie's Cafe in Carmel. Other opportunities to refuel along the route include JJ’s Scoop House in Yorktown, Coldstone Creamery in Baldwin Place, and the Freight House café in Mahopac.

Riders must have helmets and bikes in good working condition. Children under 12 not permitted. And those between 12-18 must have parental permission.

The Yorktown meeting place is at the commuter parking lot on Underhill Road, between the Yorktown Town Hall and the Meadows Farm stand. This ride is led by Mark Linehan.

The Mahopac meeting place is at the Mahopac Park N Ride on, just across Route 6 from Bikeway.  Enter from Mount Hope Road, on the south side of Route 6. The ride leader is David Wilson.

These rides are jointly sponsored by the Westchester Cycle Club and the Yorktown Trail Town Committee.

The Yorktown Trail Town Committee is a volunteer 501c(3)  not-for-profit committee that seeks to provide greater recreational, health and social benefits to Yorktown residents and visitors and  promote economic development publicizing the town’s existing network of foot and bike trails.
